The legend of Earl Grey Tea is one of politics and intrigue. When a British diplomat saved the life of an official of the Imperial Chinese Court, tea enhanced with the peel of a special variety of orange, and its recipe were given to Charles, 2nd Earl of Grey, also then the Prime Minister of England. The tea that became known as 'Earl Grey Tea' combines tea with the flavor of bergamot. This original Earl Grey Tea offers a rich and strong brew, enhanced with oil of Bergamot; it is a distinctive and unique flavor. tasting notes - Tight twisted deep blackish with brown and purple leaves. An assertive bergamot aroma is present in the dry leaf. Finely scented and well-balanced tea of rosewood color (deep brown with orange hints) suggests a tea with a pronounced character. Indeed, on nosing the tea, one immediately senses a complex intermingling of flavors - floral, marzipan and sweet Christmas spices in addition to secondary aromas evocative of a floral garden and a fruit garden. Without doubt, a distinctive tea with body and a steady personality.

Ingredients: Ceylon Black Tea with bergamot flavor.


To make a cup of Dilmah tea, draw fresh cold water into a kettle and bring to boil. Pour the boiled water into a clean and dry cup or pot containing one luxury leaf tea bag per person. Use around 200ml of water per bag. Stir after one minute and allow brewing for a further three minutes. For a strong cup, brew for another minute.
This tea has a prominent character and is ideally enjoyed without milk, and if sugar is desired, use one teaspoon or try honey as a natural sweetener.
